Dear GroupCamp Users,
As you may know GroupCamp is getting ready to launch new offerings for the end of this year and we needed a new User Interface (UI) which would easily accomodate those new applications while keeping or improving your existing user experience.
We are happy to announce that the user interface is ready to be launched and this blog post describes the main changes in the upcoming UI.
1. Introducing the new sidebar on the left
The new User Interface has a new sidebar on the left. The project browing menu therefore moves from the top menu bar to the side bar (click on My Projects). You can also, if you are an Administrator or a Manager, create a new project right from the side bar.
You’ll also see a mention of ‘Open Projects’. I’ll cover this with further details below.
Please note that you can hide the sidebar on the left by clicking on the toggle icon in the top menu bar.
2. New Packs in the left hand pane (Network, Tracking)
The sidebar on the left is where GroupCamp’s new application packs will appear. So you can already see what will be the premise of our planned Enterprise Social Network offering (under Network) and our Tracking offering which is where we hope to bring tracking features such as Expenses and Project costs (on top of the existing time tracking features).
We know how important it is for our users to have strong integration between GroupCamp apps. We have now added the ability for users to add links to shared files in your project from a wiki page.
As shown in the screenshot below, all shared files are displayed with their respective icons. Mail objects which are forwarded to your projects using the project dropbox email are also displayed.
Use To, Cc or Bcc with your project feed email address to upload your emails and files into GroupCamp projects.
We are happy to announce that our export function is available for a project. Administrators can now, in the Admin section, under the 'Project' tab export a project. An export file with all the project data is generated and the administrator is notified by email when the file is ready for download.
We have rolled out our WIKI application in all live accounts, currently in BETA (see previous Blog post).
It’s still in BETA since we are still working on it. Please send us feedback or stories on how you are using the Enterprise WIKI. It will help us in building the roadmap for the app. If you’re just getting started, please read the WIKI FAQ.
Our Discussions is one of the main used applications with Customers using GroupCamp for online projects to collect new ideas and foster innovation. We are happy to announce a new version of the application to improve collaboration with GroupCamp Project.
As from today discussions gets a new rich editor. The follower and comment system now works the same way as for the Tasks app.
In rapidly changing projects, the number of on-going discussions can become overwhelming.
You are rapidly facing a huge amount of topics and discussions which do not require any work or comments but which you do not want to delete because they often contain proof of the reasoning behind some of your company's major decisions.
To solve this you can now close Discussions which are no longer active and require no particpation from members.
